Description
Genelec has been producing professional studio monitors since 1978, and has always been at the fore-front of technology and ground-breaking innovations. The latest 8030C builds upon the success of earlier 8030 models, delivering 4 dB higher output with less energy consumption. This active 2-way studio monitor provides accurate reproductions of source material in a compact design, well suited for a wide variety of near-field applications including broadcast, music studios, surround systems, and home studio setups. The cabinet features Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) technology, which is constructed from all-aluminum in a rounded shape, which minimizes distortions caused by edge diffraction. The integrated Directivity Controlled Waveguide (DCW) helps create an even response when listening on- and off-axis.
The 8030C uses a 50W high-frequency amplifier for its 3/4″ tweeter, and a 50W low-frequency amplifier for its 5″ woofer, which combine to create a frequency response of 47 Hz to 25 kHz with a maximum SPL of 104 dB. The Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology automatically activates the speaker when an audio signal is detected, and puts it into Standby Mode when no signal is present, reducing the energy consumption to less than 0.5 watts. The rear of the speaker features an expanded bass port, which helps increase the low-frequency response and reduces distortion. The rear control panel offers an XLR input and features controls to help match the speaker’s acoustic environment with selections for Desktop, Treble Tilt, Bass Tilt, and Bass Roll-Off.
Desktop attenuates the bass frequencies around 160 Hz by 4 dB, which is designed to compensate for placing the speaker on a meter bridge, table, or similar reflective surface. Treble Tilt attenuates the treble response above 4 kHz by 2 dB, which can smooth excessively bright-sounding environments, while the Bass Tilt offers three levels of attenuation below 1 kHz, which are helpful when placing the speaker near room boundaries. Bass Roll-Off activates a -4 dB filter to the lowest bass frequencies (55 Hz).
The 8030C offers several mounting options by using the 3/8″ UNC threaded hole, which is compatible with standard microphone stands, or by using the two M5x10mm threaded holes for Omni-mount size 20.5 brackets. The 8030C ships with an Isolation Positioner/Decoupler (Iso-Pod), which is a vibration-insulating table stand that allows tilting of the loudspeaker for correct alignment of the acoustic axis.
