ASIO and Core Audio drivers are multi-client, meaning they allow multiple applications on a computer to share the device at the same time. When using a Rane product with\u00a0Serato Scratch Live, proprietary Serato Audio Research drivers are used in place of Rane ASIO and Core Audio\u00a0drivers. To get the most from your SL4, use a mixer that provides four or five line-level input buses. The SL4 Aux output can deliver the output of the SP-6 sample player to it\u2019s own mixer input. The SL4 Aux input can record your entire set from your mixer\u2019s Aux output.<\/p>\n
You can share an SL4 with another DJ and another laptop. The included\u00a0Core Audio (Mac) or ASIO (Windows) drivers allow the SL4\u00a0to act as a dual 10-in 10-out USB external sound card for use with all popular DJ and DAW\u00a0audio software.<\/p>\n
The SL4\u00a0accepts turntable outputs\u00a0or CD line input levels with individual front\u00a0panel switches. The studio-grade phono preamp RIAA\u00a0equalization in the SL4\u00a0is extremely accurate, for the best sound from your vinyl.\u00a0The SL4\u00a0accepts 3Vrms inputs from CD decks and line devices without clipping, and outputs 3Vrms to the mixer without clipping. The SL4\u00a0must be powered by USB or the included\u00a0external power supply for the Analog Deck\u00a0Thrus\u00a0to work, which are\u00a0turned on and off in the driver Control Panel.<\/p>\n
If external power is not connected, the SL4\u00a0draws its power from one of the USB ports. Plugging in an external supply removes the power drain from the\u00a0USB ports. Power switching is automatic, and the SL4\u00a0continues to operate uninterrupted as long as a power\u00a0source\u00a0is available.<\/p>\n
To remove both\u00a0laptops and keep a set going with regular vinyl or CD:<\/p>\n
1Plug the included\u00a0external power supply into AC and to\u00a0the SL4.<\/p>\n
2Activate the Analog Feed Thru\u00a0for the Decks\u00a0you want to hear in the control panel. Green indicators on the SL4 remind\u00a0you of the Thru\u00a0channels.<\/p>\n
