These precisely matched diaphragms work together as a single capsule with a combined surface area twice that of a standard one-inch circular diaphragm—Audio-Technica’s largest-ever element. This innovative architecture provides the benefits of an extremely large diaphragm, including exceptional sensitivity and extremely low noise, without the usual compromises in transient response or increased weight.
Designed for purity of sound, the microphone uses carefully selected discrete components to ensure minimal coloration and maximum signal integrity. Advanced internal shock mounting effectively decouples the capsule from the microphone body to reduce mechanical vibration, while the included AT8480 shock mount provides additional isolation for clean, detailed recordings.
